SYDNEY WILDLIFE WORLD - Friday 11th July 2008
Today we went to visit Sydney Wildlife World. I had so much fun taking pictures of all those animals and they were very close sometimes. I think it was a very nice experience!

'Wildlife World" in Sydney is a very interesting place to visit. You can see insects, snakes, birds etc. which you can't normally see in your own country or in the streets in OZ. There are a few parts of the park that I liked a lot - the kangaroo and butterfly section. I also touched a snake which I have never done before. I found it very unpleasant! You should go there and find your favourite part of wildlife!

We went to Sydney Wildlife World last Friday. We saw many Australian animals there. This zoo is mainly about the local animals such as kangaroos and koalas. I touched a black snake which felt very soft. I enjoyed it very much. I learnt a lot about animals and also, I enjoyed the scenery around Darling Habour where the zoo is located.

Sydney Wildlife World is a good zoo. It has many animals like butterflies, big dangerous birds, night insects and so on. I liked all of them but the koalas were my favourite. It's very interesting.

We saw many animals like kangaroos, koalas, snakes, bats and a hot butterfly room with the butterflies going everywhere. The Sydney Wildlife World was very fun, very interesting. Afterwards we went to China town for lunch. Very happy day!

GRADUATIONS - June - July 2008

WENDY'S VISIT - Tuesday 8th July 2008 
The Preparation for High School students visited Wendy's at Warringah Mall as part of their current Business Studies assignment.
A huge thankyou to Kristy for answering all their questions and giving them Wendy's showbags and yummy ice-creams!
Here's what they had to say:
Yesterday we went to Wendy's in the Mall. At first we asked the woman who works in Wendy's some business questions. After that, they gave us some candy, balloons and pink beach balls. Now I know there are 700 shops in Australia. They sell ice-cream and the most popular ice-cream in their shop is the mega choc shake. Wendy was a beauftiful girl and they named the shop after her. I enjoyed myself.

Yesterday we went to the mall and went to Wendy's and asked some questions. I learnt which one is the most popular ice-cream and when the company began. I ate a double ice-cream and the Wendy's gave us many presents and some food. We were very happy yesterday.

Yesterday, I went to mall and ate ice cream. At first we listened as the beautiful girl told us about ice cream. Then we are started eating Ice cream. I had a chocolate shake. I learnt how to make ice-cream. I was very happy.

SOUTHPORT WORKER'S CLUB - Friday 04 July 2008

Teachers Victoria & David took the students to lunch at the Southport
Workers Club last Friday. The Worker's Club is huge and beautifully decorated -
the ceiling looks like stars in the deep blue sky. The food was varied, very
fresh and delicious. We could choose from the carvery, café or a la carte. And
all meals were very reasonably priced. I had an ice cream sundae - Yum! After
lunch, we played card games and took heaps of silly pictures.

I went to the Southport Worker's Club on Friday with the students of MEC. I ate
some delicious food and I played too. It was a great time with my new friends and
nice teachers, Vicky and David.

TEN PIN BOWLING - Thursday Evening 03 July 2008

A draw, winner, lose, beat, verse, trophy, sports hall etc. Evening class 3 has been studying sporting vocabulary. What better way to put that vocab into practice than with a couple of games of ten pin bowling. At 5.30pm Ayelen and I took 11 students to Dee Why RSL to bowl. South America was well represented, with students from Colombia, Peru and Brazil, as well as Ayelen from Argentina.
Henrique and Ricardo from class 3 showed great ability and skill, as well as Juan Carlos and Gonzalo. Nataly from Class 5 showed that you don't need muscles to score high points. Ayelen helped with technique for those of us who were struggling: Magali, Kalile, Vanessa and myself. However, none of us mastered it, unfortunately. Talita, who was carrying injuries from a weekend snowboarding, was entertained by us all.
Caique, Leo and Cadu (Carlos) arrived to join us for our second game, bringing their Singaporean Landlord, Fernando, who is helping the boys with their English.
Ten pin bowling is very tiring and so after the games we retired upstairs for a quiet drink before going home to get ready for the weekend.

ICE SKATING - Friday 27 June 2008 
Today we go to ice-skating. It was a really funny and interesting way to travel. In this ice world we played together although we often fell down. We learnt how to skate hand in hand and work together. I also saw many ice skaters who can skate very well. I hope one day I can skate like them. So Friday is a good day for every student, isn't it?!

JUNE FESTIVAL - Thursday 19 June 2008 There was laughter, dance, food and drink at the humungous June Festival party held at Maewill on Thursday. The college was beautifully decorated with flags, balloons, pinatas and signs thanks especially to Ayelen, Aimee and Andrea. From the beginning of the day everyone got into the spirit of the Festival by dressing up as country bumpkins.
At break time everyone enjoyed `Fair' food - fresh toffee apples, hot popcorn, hot dogs and rice pudding - as well as Quentao and Ginger Beer. Then everyone warmed-up by playing some games - Musical Chairs, Throwing a Ball through the Clown's Mouth and Linking Animals Game to name a few - and enjoyed getting `Free Hugs'!
Finally everyone let loose and really got into the spirit of the festival by doing the Chicken Dance, as well as Square Dancing, Forro and Line Dancing. A fantastic time was had by all - it was a ball!

FESTA
JUNINA - GOLD COAST - 19 June 2008 On 19th of June we had a typical Brazilian party in school, we call the ``Festa Junina``. The party was amazing, we had characteristic food, music and drinks. Andrea, Paul and some students kidded around by dressing in funny clothes and painted their face and teeth. Andrea had a good idea of selling the food to collect money to send a donation to the Cancer Hospital. Everybody enjoyed, Brazilians, Japanese, Peruvians etc. We should have this kind of party every month for each country and try to help people with Cancer.

At the Festa Junina, we had a very funny afternoon. At first we saw Paul in his Hill Billys style, and fell into laughter. Andrea and Daiana joined the party as well with costumes like country hicks. We ate a lot of food, for example: Quentao (Wine and Ginger), cachorro quente (hot dog), popcorn, candies and chocolate cake. Not diet food, but very yummy.

GRADUATING
STUDENTS - GOLD COAST 
Paul and Andrea said farewell to Nayo & Hoy who are going on a trip around Europe after studying in Maewill for almost a year...
Romeo is having a holiday and is coming back in July :D
Eunah & Ayumi are going back to their home country Korea/ Japan. We'll miss you girls!!
Tsutomu didn't look that sad that he was leaving but I'm sure he will miss the ping pong table.. hehe
And the 'Curitiba' group Eurico, Marcela, Luiza & Fabricio are leaving us... 'no good' says Fabricio :D

LINE DANCING - Friday June 13th 2008

On a rainy Friday students had fun learning some dance steps in preparation for our big June Festival party. Firstly, they tried to follow instructions on the dvd called Invitation to Dance: Line Dancing. Then everyone was highly amused learning the Chicken Dance which they practiced several times!
Finally I taught everyone a "quadrilla" or "square dance" where everyone danced in pairs, then made a tunnel with their hands so each couple could run under. A big thumbs up to everyone who participated! We can't wait to see your work at the party.

KICKBOXING - Friday 06 June 2008
Today we went to the gym and did some exercises about kickboxing. I like kickboxing. If I have free time every day I will take the bus and go there to do some exercise. Today I think everyone was working very hard.

We went to do kickboxing. It was my first activity with Maewill and it was absolutely amazing. We kicked and punched each other and the kickboxing instructor was very helpful. It was good fun and I recommend to go on activities to everybody, it's good to try something new!

Going surfing was an amazing experience! It was brilliant and I had really good fun! I want to do this again for sure! This kind of activity is a good way to learn and have fun together! I have no words to describe this opportunity! Thank you Maewill…

We went to Manly to learn surfing. There is a beautiful beach and ocean. The instructor showed and helped us. First I felt nervous and then I had a lot of fun. Surfing is very hard. I think everybody should try surfing.
