HIGH SCHOOL WRITING

JOURNAL WRITING by Jaslie

TOPIC: Imagine you are an immigrant arriving in Australia after World War II.

It was a sad day with dark clouds and a strong wind. It's was time to leave my parents and start a new life alone in Austraila.

First of all, I want to say something about my country. I really love my coutry, and I will miss my hometown very much. The land where I was born is just like my mother, she brought me up with her whole love and with her hand and foot. I will miss her night and day.

As for my parents,I just hope they are healthy and happy. Leaving them, I really don't feel  I can breathe freely. Because they will be worried about me and won't sleep well. They will miss me very much. So do I. When I leave them on my journey one thing that I hope deeply is the boat will come back to my country or the boat will break down during the journey. However, that is impossible! I must leave my parents. That is so miserable! I will feel lonely in  my new life.

Goodbye to my friends, that is a cruel thing! In my life, friends are an important part, that is indispensable, or I will die! But it is reality, I have to leave them, maybe forever! When they sent me off we hugged each other tightly and held each other for a long time. We cried togerther. Hopefully they will have a better life in the future.

Leaving is suffering, leaving is provoking, leaving them is like doomsday! However, life should hopeful! This time I'm leaving so the next time will be a rendezvous.

JOURNAL WRITING by Jessica

What are the pressures that teenagers face today?
There are many problems when we are a teenager. At the time, we think there are many happy things all over the world. We want to get the answer and then we will find the answer. Such as starting smoking, drinking and drugs.

We think it is a good thing and it is looks very cool. But nobody knows it is bad for health. Don't you know smoking is bad for you? And we also think we are lucky, not serious punishment if you break rules. We can do everything if we want. So many people are in jail. When they were teenagers they started to do bad things. Also nobody stops them doing bad things. Now they are in jail. I think it is bad for you life.

What are the positives about being a teenager today?
Although they get many negative things they get good thing as well. When we are a teenager, we shouldn't do many things, not only no washing, no cooking, no cleaing, but also we can have money from parents. The money -whatever you like, they can give you more and more. Then you go shopping and have lots of parties. They think it is lifestyle.

In my mind I think the positive things can also become the negative. I believe if you get money from your parents you might go and do bad things. Positive and negative, they are related to each other.

TOPIC: Growing Up
Today, I think teenagers are facing many kinds of pressure. Mother tells me to study, even though I'm doing my best. Also she tells me to tidy up my room although it's very clean for me. I think these situations are quite natural because we are not same person, in other words, we don't have same thoughts and I think we can regard these situations as one of the pressures for teenagers.

Let me tell you about another example. I think this is typical in not only Japan but also some Asian countries. In Japan, most high school, junior high school, and even elementaly school students go to "juku". Juku means cram school. I think there are no cram schools in Australia. We go to juku after school and study there for 2 or 3 hours. On Saturday and Sunday, we spend much longer time at juku. It is really hard for us! Why do we go to juku? The answer is simple. We go to juku because our parents expect us to be a smart girl or boy. Or now it has become common sense to go there. For me, this was the biggest pressure I have ever faced. We have to take an entrance examination to enter high school.

When I became ten, mother made me go to cram school. This is much harder than ordering to study by mother. I wanted to quit, however the entrance exam became harder and harder because every student went to cram school and studied much harder than several years ago. So everyone endured to answer the expectations of their parents. I think this is the biggest pressure for Japanese students and I think we Japanese should share more time with family. Spending little time with family can make other pressures, too. So when I become a mother, I'd like my children to share much time with family and grow up happily. I hope Japanese adults notice this and become more happy.

During this teenage period, I think there are many positive things. First, we can make friends with more and more people. When I become a grown-up, I think we can't meet so many people. For example, office workers are working at the same place every day. So I think now is the chance to make many friends. Friends are important because we can share time enjoyably and also I think we can know and recognize many thoughts and ideas.

Secondly, we teenagers face many difficulties, and thanks to that, we can absorb various things from them. Also these experiences help us grow up and make us stronger. So I think we should be willing to challenge the difficulties. It can makes us better and better. This is the one reason I came to Australia. I think there are many things we can't experience when we become adults!

Thank you for reading my journal.

TOPIC: Growing Up
I think being a teenager today has 3 points. First, they can live very  comfortably. For example, nowadays we can live very comfortably. I think  it's too comfortable. But people will want to be more comportable. So, they  don't  have to take care of themselves. And they will stop difficult things thinking. I think it is too bad it already enough now. But, for them, it is good.

Second, they can live a long long time, if medicince will be advance.  So, they can enjoy more a lot of time than us. I think it is great, because they  can cure the obstinate. If it will be able, I think all the people glad!

Third, if science will be advence, they can go to the space!! Many people hopes''I would like to go space''  so it is  very  good. And I think it will be able, soon! I  wood  like to go to space, too!! But it is dream. I'm today's teenager. I think we face 3 pressures today.

First,we have to study hard now, I think. Sience and otherthings is advencing now. So, we have to study hard to be professional. Second, we have many enviromental  problems. So we have to fix it soon. But it takes along many time. So, I think we have to think about  environmental problems until we will die. I think it is the biggest and most important  problem.

Finally, some teenagers have drugs. I think it is a big poblem. Some  countries allow it. But I think it is a bad thing. Drugs make you crazy. It's too bad. So, I want to stop drugs for teenagers.

We have many problems now, but I'm happy. So, I would like to begin to do.

TOPIC:
(1) What are the pressures that teenagers face today ?
(2)What are the positives about being a teenger today?

(1)  There are many problems in teengers' lives. If you are a teenager, you must study in school. Teachers can teach you the knowledge ,but in China it is compulsary, not many people really like studying for a long time .When we finish the study (a.m), teachers give you a lot of homework. You must do this , if you don't do this ,you will have detention.

I always go to bed late. Not until I finish the homework. So many teengers hate study, they start smoking and drinking alcohol, taking drugs with adults, they think smoking and drinking alcohol are very cool. Those things make you crazy. Some teenagers have argurments with parents, rebel against their parents choices, bullying. In China many students feel they should spend money on material things (e.g shoes - Nike )

(2)  Teenagers don't need to find the job now. They get money from parents. Not only they don't need to cook, but also they don't need to do washing. Parents can help you do anything about your every day life. Teenagers start relationships, not serious punishment for crimes, they will have many choices to correct. Teenagers have a very unforgettable life.
