You will need to have finished high school and be over 18 years of age, show identification and proof of funds (e.g. a job or bank statement) and show references.
Cost
Rents vary, depending on the number of bedrooms and location. Expect to pay $280 and upwards for a two-bedroom flat.
You will need to pay a 4 week bond, plus rent in advance. You will get the bond back at the end of the lease as long as there is no damage to the property.
A minimum lease period is 6 months.
You may need to pay for excess water usage.
Electricity
A reconnection is free and you need to contact Energy Australia at 131 535.
If you are not a permanent resident a bond of $120 is paid and is returned after the successful payment of 4 accounts or at the end of your stay. If you choose to pay by direct debit system there is no need to pay a bond.
Gas
If gas is just to be reconnected phone AGL at 131 245.
It costs $22 to establish an account and a bond of $100. This bond is returned when you leave the property. If you decide to pay by direct debit no bond has to be paid.
